Area of Interest : Endoluminal approaches to Aneurysm Repair, Carotid Disease and Peripheral Vascular Disease Dr Michael Stephen was a Senior Lecturer in Surgery at the University of Sydney partner entering private practice. He was a foundation member of the ANZ Society of Vascular Surgery and also the Vascular Unit at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. He has an extensive experience in complex vascular surgery, but also was a member of the group performing Australia’s first “key-hole” surgery for aortic aneurysms. He has had an expanding interest in minimally invasive surgery since. Special interests and expertise include: i). Minimally invasive correction of:
- Aortic aneurysm- stent grafts
- Thoracic aneurysms and dissections - stent grafts
- Lower limb and arterial disease
o Iliac, femoral and tibial angioplasty and stents
- Carotid stenting
ii). Minimally invasive treatment of venous disease
- Laser (EVLT) treatment of major venous incompetence.
- Sclerotherapy (injections) for lesser venous disease
iii). Classical surgical repair of:
- Aneurysms
- Arterial occlusions
- Carotid disease
- Venous disease
iv). Complex vascular reconstructions with advanced tumour surgery Hospital appointments
- Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Camperdown
- Mater Misericordiae Hospital, Crow’s Nest
